Diving Vacation in Caribbean

Caribbean is located between the continents of North and South America and east of Mexico. A group of countries forms the Caribbean and some of the countries in this group are smaller in total size than a large U S city and involves population as few as 20000 inhabitants. The countries which form Caribbean are Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla and Montserrat, Cayman Islands and the Turksand Caicos islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago. Different colonial influences start from English, French, Portuguese; Dutch had marked their traditions and had forwarded mixed culture for this region. The geography here will vary from island to island.
Caribbean islands are offering stretches of reef with tropical fish, there will be wrecks, caves and corals to explore. It is easy to arrange a dive trip to Caribbean because in almost all islands dive shops are available. The resorts will train you in diving in short course or longer lasting qualifications are also available in this respect. Caribbean island offers you a variety of dive sites you can start with the shark diving in the Bahamas, where you can feed the sharks and sharks ranging from six to nine feet long will cruise towards you. You can even dive with dolphins and sharks at this unique location. The specialty of Barbados is its wrecks. Some of the attractive wrecks are Berwyn which sunk in 1919, Bajan queen which sunk in 2002, S.S. Stravonikita a 365 feet Greek freighter which was purposely drowned in 1978 etc. Barbados is also having drift dive locations in the upper south coast close to the Atlantic Ocean. The visibility is good and offer abundance of sea life like corals, sponges, hawksbill turtles, sea horses, frog fish, sting rays, and barracuda.
There are also occasional sightings of ocean going fish such as mantas, hammerhead, nurse black tip sharks and whale sharks in rare occasions. Antigua is a good option for the beginners because it offer under water with less current and the visibility is also good. At Barbuda in Antigua the coral reefs are close to the surface and there is no need for the diver to go deep to enjoy the marine world. Some of the important diving centers in Antigua are Boon’s reef, Cades reef, Ariadne shoal with cave dive, Sunken rock a large rock area about 50 to 100 feet were Caribbean marine life grows on the surface of the rocks. Grenada offers shallow white sandy bottoms which will give a brighter environment and strong consequent colors. Carriacou dive sites are offering good corals with fishes in relatively shallow water. Diving at St. Kitts Caribbean is worthful with coral garden formations, another attraction is the four wrecks at the northern part of the island to the north of Basseterre and this area also involves good marine life including eels, stingrays and sand sharks.
Caribbean islands can be described as the treasure for the divers with varieties of diving locations.
